Against the Wall
For me personally, street art has always been about breaking boundaries, both physical and social, but it’s not every day that you get to see your work make a real change to people’s lives and contribute to something much larger than itself. I am immensely proud to be a part of this collaboration between Sotheby’s and the Movember Foundation, and to see so many great artists stand up and recognise the significance of this project and the ongoing struggle’s of men’s mental health.
It’s no secret that many artists across history and including myself, have battled with issues of isolation and loneliness. What Street Art brings to the table for both artist and viewer alike is a catalyst for conversation, a common point of referance for casual discussion - removing the social stigma that prevent’s so many men from opening up to friends and family. So much can be achieved in such few words, someone just needs to start the conversation.
In total, nine artists from around the world have created a series of amazing pieces, each aimed at nurturing open conversation around men’s mental health and suicide prevention. All of these very special works will feature in Sotheby’s upcoming Contemporary Curated sale (20th November | London), the proceeds of which will benefit the Movember foundation’s ground-breaking mental health programmes.
